We received a message on our dashboard that PayPal Standard is no longer in use. Our non-profit organization mainly collects donations from the US and Japan.

Unfortunately, PayPal Donations cannot accept donations from Japan because of certain restrictions. As a result, we were using PayPal Standard as our primary e-commerce payment method.

But with this modification in PayPal’s policy, we’ll be integrating Standard into Donation. Can we process this payment as a standard transaction by selecting “Standard Transaction” in GiveWP’s PayPal settings?

Is this identical to using the PayPal Standard feature?

    Hi, @nimbus2006.

    I’m glad you reached out.

Moving your account to PayPal Donations should not affect donations coming from Japan, as long as your PayPal account is in the US, for example.

About standard and donation transactions, I can clarify.

Some organizations are allowed to collect donations using PayPal and pay less taxes. For it, they need to submit some documents to PayPal and get approved. When they are approved, they can use the Donation transaction type.

On the other hand, any other organization that did not submit the paperwork to PayPal and was not approved, need to use the Standard Transaction option.

?Please let us know if you have further questions or need additional assistance!
