• Hello.

I need assistance figuring something out. I have a paypal sandbox account setup and am testing the checkout system. It’s a verified business with credit card and bank account.

When an item is added to cart and Place Order is selected, I am directed to Paypal as normal. The one catch is that the “guests” are required to create a paypal account.

I have logged into the test sandbox account and went to “Website Payment Preference” and turned ON “PayPal Account Optional”.

In woo settings “Enable sandbox” is selected, and “Enable guest checkout (no account required)” is selected. All registration options are off, except email for username.

I have tried checking out and leaving the password fields blank, but that returns an error.

So with all this, why is the paypal payment screen forcing me to create an account?

Thank you for the help in advance. Have a great year!

  • This is only with sandbox… I had the same problem! I tried to make a purchase (without paying) in live mode with Paypal and when you arrive on the Paypal payment page, you have 3 options :

    log in your existing account
pay without a Paypal account (when you click this, a form is displayed to enter your credit card infos)
at the bottom a link to cancel and return to your site

Try the live mode, and just cancel to return to your site… you should see the real options!
