    Hi

Our client reported that a couple of days ago their donation and membership forms were no longer getting payments. Their members were completing the form, going through the Paypal process but neither they received the payment nor was the payment taken from the members’ paypal accounts.

I’ve done a few tests myself and on the Paypal form (which you get redirected to) the TO field has my details (ie the form filler/payer details) and not my client’s details (the payment recipient). Therefore I am effectively trying to pay myself and not them.

I’ve tried disconnecting and resetting the sandbox and live API keys but the issue remains.

For now I have disconnected the Paypal account so to reduce confusion for my client and their members.

    Hi @jowaltham

    I hope you’re well today!

I’m not exactly sure how the form is currently configured but I tried the form that’s on a page that you shared. If this form contains payment then it should also show PayPal payment options there while it only has submit button.

Upon submission it also returns “invalid payment intend” error which suggests that PayPal credentials configuration might be incorrect (e.g. live API keys used with sandbox mode or the other way around or a typo in API keys).

However, this is just a general remark and to be able to tell more, it would be best if we could test the form.

Each Forminator form can be exported so could you export this one and share its export code with us here? Please make sure to mark it as code in the response post or, better yet, share export file via some file storage of yours (like Dropbox or Google Drive or similar).

We’ll test and check the form then to see what might be causing the issue.

    Best regards,
    Adam

    Hi

Yes sorry I had deleted the API credentials to stop form submits on that page because people thought they had made a donation when in fact it wasn’t sending payment and that was causing confusion.

I’ve set up a test site https://test.callia.dev/ – the form is on the home page (second block).

The paypal live and sandbox credentials are entered (ours not our clients) and the forms works except once Paypal payment is completed no money transfers! Nothing is debited from my personal Paypal account and nothing arrives at my business paypal account.

No error message. So it looks like everything is OK and I receive the email to say a submission has been submitted but no money changes hands.

This test site is similar to the client’s site in terms of hosting and theme but this test site has only a few plugins installed.

    Hi @jowaltham

Could you please check the Forminator > Submission?

Check the status and if this returned the ID?
    https://monosnap.com/file/F17fQWDGPxzw2nE0wt7Co2mZQeDNZH

If so, you can try to find for that ID on PayPal to confirm the payment was discounted or refused.

I also pinged the plugin developers to verify what could cause this problem.

Let us know the result you got.

There are submissions there with transaction IDs but if I click the link to that transaction I get

We are not able to find this transaction ID. Can you please check and try again later.

If I then search for the transaction ID in my business (receiver) Paypal account or personal (customer) account I get “sorry no results found”.

It was all working up until Christmas. Whatever has changed has changed in the last three weeks.

I have another website on a different web host and I’ve just tested Forminator PayPal payment and it works OK. I’m wondering if the web host is filtering something out?

    Hi @jowaltham

Our developers are working on a similar situation.

Could you confirm which is the status that it shows on the Submission?

On the form that isn’t working, Forminator > Submission, is it Completed or Approved?

    Hello there @jowaltham

It seems that this is part of a larger issue in Forminator that is being reported and worked on by our developers, who are testing a potential solution and will include a fix in the upcoming v.1.14.8.

If there’s any other development on this, like a temporary fix before the official update, we will keep you posted here.

    Warm regards,
    Dimitris

    Hi

Is there an estimate of when version 1.14.8 will be released?

    Hi

I’ve updated to version 1.14.8 but now when I submit the form, enter all my payment details (either logging in or entering card details) I get “Payment failed, please try again!”.

You can see the form here https://test.callia.dev/

    Hello @jowaltham ,

    I’m sorry about this issue.

Can you tell me if this is happening with also sandbox? I don’t have the possibility to test live payments on your site.

    kind regards,

    Hi

I’ve switched it to sandbox mode and still get the same issue – Payment Failed.

    Thanks

    Hi @jowaltham,

    Thank you for confirming.

I recently went into your test page https://test.callia.dev/ and tested the Paypal form. I was able to make the submission and payment without any errors shown on browser console or on page. Can you retry using a sandbox account and provide us with any screenshots of errors you may get?

    Best,

That’s great! How strange. I was consistently getting the Payment Failed message on this website and my two other clients’ websites. But I can confirm, no error in sandbox and I’ve just switched to live and no error.

No changes to the website from then to now… How strange.

I’ll test my clients websites now.

    Thanks
