PayPal Payments & WooCommerce Subscriptions with Personal PayPal Account

The PayPal Payments plugin currently uses the Vaulting feature to process automatic subscription payments. This feature requires your PayPal account to be enabled for “Reference Transactions”, which is normally only available to business accounts that completed a vetting process.

However, to make subscription applications more accessible, the team is working on a new feature to implement PayPal Subscriptions. These are subscription plans that are managed by PayPal and allow automatic recurring payments for any PayPal account holder (business and personal).
This feature will presumably be officially available in the next update sometime in July.
But the latest 2.1.0 update includes a feature preview for the upcoming PayPal Subscriptions integration. If you are interested in taking an early look, please check out this document: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce-paypal-payments/wiki/Testing-features-previews

This feature is still in development and not recommended for use on a production site quite yet, as there are still many improvements coming for the official release.
But if you give it a try on a staging site, feedback is much appreciated.
