Getting the payment but form submission not saved.

In at least one case, it was because someone had an error on the form (they tried to upload a file that was larger than the limit) but it didn’t prompt the person before they paid. Immediately after paying they got an error message.

This is not happening with most form submissions (it has happened 3 within the past week). I believe it is only happening when the customer has made an error such as not filling out required fields, or trying to upload too large a file (I have since increased the limit to avoid this but still have payments coming through with missing form submissions after this change).

To try to curtail this issue, I added a page break after the required fields. This worked for awhile, but then for some reason the PayPal buttons were not displaying. The only way to make the PayPal buttons display again was to remove the page break.

Can you please make it so all forms are saved, regardless if there is an error on someone’s form?

    Hello @mchll98989

    I trust you’re doing well!

I’m afraid this is a known issue with the PayPal payment option. Please try the following mu-plugin, it will force the submission to go through before the payment is made
    https://gist.github.com/wpmudev-sls/0ff0dd003ed3f3e9b4ff0416da8ee25a

Please upload file forminator-submit-before-paypal.php to wp-content/mu-plugins/ folder. If mu-pluigns folder doesnt’ exist, please feel free to create it.

Let us know how it went!

    Kind regards,
    Nastia

Thank you for your reply. I tried the plugin and it does save the form before the payment step. However, after submitting the form, it says this message:

Your information has been submitted. In order to verify please complete payment bellow.

But the payment buttons are not displayed.

    Hello @mchll98989 ,

Can you export your form and share it with us in .txt file so we could test it and see what could be possibly wrong?

I apologize for delayed reply. Our developers reviewed the code and have updated it. Please download the updated mu-plugin from here, and replace it with the one on your site.

Let us know if you will have any questions!

    Hello,

Thanks for working on this. Unforunately, the fix is not working. The payment options show up now, but after you click on the “Paypal checkout” button, there is an error message. The paypal window pops up for a brief second and then disappears and the error message gets displayed.

Also, the total $ on my form and the total $ in the email are not the same. When I tested it, my total on the form was $14.00 (correct total), and the order form submission email said the total was $13.50.

    Hi @mchll98989

The paypal window pops up for a brief second and then disappears and the error message gets displayed.

I realize that this might sound “lame” but have you tried different browsers and/or incognito mode (or with all the browser cache cleared)? Aren’t there any add-ons, especially related to ad-blocking, enabled in the browser(s)?

I tried to replicate the issue on my end even with your form (just disabled e-mail notifications and different PayPal API credentials) and it seemed to work fine so far – tho I only tried in a “bare” Chrome on Windows so far.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

Yes, I have tried after clearing my browser cache. I also have cleared the cache on my site before each attempt.

I’m on a desktop using chrome. I have tried incognito. I have tried chrome on my iPad. I also have tried the Microsoft Edge browser on desktop. Ad-block is disabled. The Paypal window does not load and the “Error! Something went wrong when verifying the payment” message is displayed.

Also in every instance, despite the total calculating correctly on the form, the total saved in the database and sent via email are incorrect. It removes 2 different fields from the calculation upon submitting for some reason – even though these selections are still in the confirmation emails and database. Which doesn’t make any sense because the total displayed on the form is correct and the formula for the calculation is correct. This error ONLY happens when the mu-plugin is uploaded.

New issue: I just realized, the form as it is on my site now, without the mu-plugin, calculates initial selections correctly. If I unselect something, it changes the total $ accurately, but when I make a new selection, it does not add the new item to the total. I have to unselect and reselect a few times for it to add the new item to the total. https://www.lovingfromadistance.com/braceletorderform/

I just tested another form I have with the mu-plugin uploaded. This form has page breaks, and the mu-plugin adds the confirm button on the first page of the form. Here you can see both “confirm” and “next” buttons: https://imgur.com/E7DTLEd

If you click “confirm” this is what happens: https://imgur.com/CtJk4K1

    Hello @mchll98989 ,

The Paypal window does not load and the “Error! Something went wrong when verifying the payment” message is displayed.

I was testing this and I was able to replicate the same error on the form as you are seeing.
It looks like there is also issue with the price (2×5 USD bracelets + 1 USD M&Ms should be $11 but it shows me $13 total).

Let me bring this to the attention of the developer so they can re-check the code of mu-plugin.

    kind regards,

    Hi @mchll98989

our developers are still looking into it. Apparently it’s not that easy as it seems due to some PayPal-side code aspects (I’m sorry, not being a developer I’m not quite able to give details on that).

We’re still waiting for further information on this and we’ll update you here once we’ll know more.

    Kind regards,
    Adam

    Hello @mchll98989 ,

I’m sorry but we still don’t have any update about this issue ??

    Hi,

I don’t know how related my issue is, but I am having a similar problem. I am utilizing an order form with PayPal integration. I’m receiving emails from PayPal stating that I am receiving payments, but the Forminator plugin does not indicate any submissions have been made on that form. My form is paginated with only html text and PayPal buttons on the final page, so I doubt that customer error in filling the form is the problem, and I can only assume the PayPal buttons are displaying fine for customers since payments are coming in. This is the form: https://pioneervalleyapiaries.com/2020-nucleus-colonies/nuc-order-with-online-payment/.

I have used the form several times in sandbox mode and everything worked perfectly before I switched to live payments. I’m concerned that my customers are not receiving the automated email notifications that they should be.

    Thanks

    Hello @zigzywno

I hope you are doing well!

Thank you for posting in this thread, however, because this issue is posted by another author. Per www.remarpro.com regulations, please create a new one. This way, the author will not be getting email notifications each time when there is a new post in the thread.

Have a good day and take care!

Is this still being worked on? It looks like @zigzywno is indeed having the same issue as me. I would think making sure forms that are integrated with PayPal function properly would be a TOP priority. Getting a payment from a customer, but not receiving their order form is frustrating, embarrassing, and makes us look bad to our customers.
