• Hello there,

We installed this plugin in December 2023, and received about 5 subscription orders paid using Paypal.

Products are configured: “Users will pay every 1 month”

The orders were successfully charged for the first payment, and the payments visible in PayPal.

However, none of these orders have automatically charged for the following month (January 2024).

The subscriptions have a status of “Active”. They have a valid expiry, and a valid “Next payment due” date.

They are reporting 0 failed attempts.

There’s nothing in the server error logs on the renewal dates.

How do I debug this problem?

    I’m using:

    • YITH WooCommerce Subscription v3.2.0 (Free)
    • WooCommerce PayPal Payments 2.5.2
    • WooCommerce 8.3.1

Also, can I just check the meaning of this terminology from your feature list?

Users can pay subscriptions with PayPal

    • Does this mean using the WooCommerce PayPal Payments gateway?
    • or does this mean they must pay with their Paypal Account

    Thanks

Is this forum monitored? Where’s the best place to get support for the free version of the plugin?

I’ve set up a simple subscription product, paid with Paypal, and it’s not auto-renewing, nor throwing any errors I can debug.

    Hello @searchvista,

this version of the plugin does not support WooCommerce PayPal Payments but only PayPal Standard that comes embedded into WooCommerce https://woo.com/document/paypal-standard/

Hi Alberto, thanks for getting back to me.

I can’t find any reference on the plugin page, the documentation, FAQs, or customer reviews to indicate the free version ONLY supports PayPal Standard.

In the list of supported gateways, WooCommerce PayPal Payments is clearly listed, and there is no mention that the Free version doesn’t support this.

I think an update to this list clearly showing free and premium support would prevent disappointed developers, clients and site shoppers.

If I upgrade to the Pro version will it attempt to process the existing subscriptions (created in Dec / January) on the next renewal date?

    Thanks

    Hello @searchvista,

the page you are referring to is meant for the commercial version only. The correct documentation can be found here: https://docs.yithemes.com/yith-woocommerce-subscription/free-settings/payment-method/

Unfortunately the upgrade won’t fix the issue since this version of the plugin is unable to save the payment information

Hi Alberto, thanks for your quick reply.

The documentation on the link you provided states:

Among all payment methods available, PayPal standard and WooCommerce PayPal Payments are the only ones that have been configured in order to detract the subscription recurrent fee automatically until subscription expiry date.

It doesn’t state that only PayPal Standard will work,

The page I was originally referring to, was this one:

    https://yithemes.com/themes/plugins/yith-woocommerce-subscription/

The feature grid Free v Premium doesn’t state that PayPal Standard is the only gateway supported by the free version.

    Hello @searchvista,

sorry for the oversight. Is the vaulting enabled on WooCommerce PayPal Payments?

    Hi Alberto, vaulting is disabled.

    Thanks

    Hello?@searchvista,

that’s the issue. Vaulting is necessary for the recurring payments

Thanks for getting back to me Alberto,

Are you now confirming that this plugin is compatible with WooCommerce PayPal Payments?

If I enable Vaulting, will this also allow recurring card payments, not just PayPal payments. By “card payments” I mean users who have selected “Pay by Card” during the PayPal checkout process.

    Thanks

    Hello @searchvista,

in these cases it’s better to create a test subscription with the renewal in a few days. So you can check if the plugin is working fine.
