• Recently been having issues with some orders going to ‘cancelled’ but then when checked, a payment has been received via paypal.

I’ve had to manually check every cancelled order and change to ‘processing’ manually if payment has been received.

    Hi there,

I understand your concern. Could you please check and share the Order Notes for the canceled orders? This may provide more details on why the orders were canceled. You can use the following tool for the screenshot: https://snipboard.io

Additionally, if you have set a Hold Stock Limit in WooCommerce → Settings → Products → Inventory, you might want to try increasing the value or leaving it empty to see if that helps.

Could you also confirm which PayPal plugin you are using? Since payment processing is handled by the gateway, I recommend reaching out to the plugin provider for further assistance.

Let us know what you find!

    Thanks for the assistance!

Here’s the order notes from the order: https://snipboard.io/1WmXUz.jpg
The payment was received at 8:46 so pretty much instantly when the order was created.

I’ve just removed the ‘Hold Stock’ value so hopefully that helps.

I’m currently using the ‘WooCommerce PayPal Payments’ plugin.

    Hi @lewmer1440,

Thank you for providing the requested details. Based on the order notes, it looks like the order was canceled because the hold stock time limit was reached. However, since you mentioned that the order was received almost immediately after being created, there are a few possible explanations.

It could be that the payment was successful, but the user’s network was slow, causing a delay in redirection. Another possibility is that the user closed the window immediately after being charged, without waiting for the order confirmation. Lastly, it might simply be due to the hold stock setting.

Since this has only happened with one payment so far, it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact cause. I recommend keeping an eye on it to see if the issue occurs again and letting us know if it does.

This morning I’ve had 2 orders come through as ‘pending payment’ instead of cancelled, however, payment has still come through on paypal.

The only other weird thing I’ve noticed that comes through on these weird orders, is that on paypal there’s a weird bit of code: https://snipboard.io/YXsxwv.jpg

    Hi @lewmer1440,

The JSON-like data in the order note (e.g., {"order_id":11959,"order_key":"wc_order_10Dv4qTxpEs4U"}) isn’t something WooCommerce typically adds by default. This is likely coming from a third-party plugin, a payment gateway, or custom code that interacts with order processing.

It would be helpful to check if you have any order management, custom checkout, or logging plugins, as they might be adding this data.

To get a better understanding of your setup, could you share your System Status Report? You’ll find it under WooCommerce > Status in your dashboard. From there, click Get system report and then Copy for support.

If there are any fatal error logs, those could also provide clues. You can find them under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

When you have that information, please paste it into a Code block in your reply or use pastebin.com and share the link.

Let us know what you find! ??
