unfortunately i have the problem that when a customer wants to buy a product from a subscription, the paypal payment method does not appear, although activated and correctly connected. a year ago you once said that you issued any guest order on a subscription function. is this still the case?

    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out to us, we are here to help.

With the current setup of our plugin, you still need to have vaulting activated to have our payment method show up for subscription products. Please check if you have done that on our plugin settings.

I am not sure what you mean by “issued any guest order on a subscription function”. Please explain.

    Pending your response.
    Kind regards,
    Joost

i can’t find this word “vaulting” anywhere in the settings. do i need to install or code something specific for this?

i found this screenshot. apparently i should activate this so that the function is displayed in the plugin at all. https://woocommerce.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/image-5.png

but the problem is, under “payment preferences” i have only one setting “block payments”. all these other options don’t exist in the account at all

    Hello @madmax98

The settings you are looking into are the PayPal account settings. I was talking about the PayPal Payments plugin settings. You can find these on the WordPress backend: WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal > Standard Payment. Here you will find the setting “Vaulting”, that you would need to activate.

Currently, if you want fully automatic renewals to occur for subscriptions, you would also need Reference Transactions to be activated on your PayPal account. In case you need that, please go to this item/document and see what steps you need to take if that is not yet activated on your account. You can find if this is activated on your account, by checking the “PayPal Payments” detail section in the system report.

Let me know if this helped you further.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

The problem is not that I want a full automatic renewal. The problem is that this option which you mention in the plugin does not exist for me. This checkbox does not exist. There is no setting for me called “Vaulting”. This whole function doesn’t exist and I wanted to know why and what I have to do to make it show up for me.

    Hello @madmax98

Yes, sorry about that. This is a new situation that I forgot about, where the vaulting options are not shown when the merchant does not have Reference Transactions activated.

In order to use?PayPal for subscription-type products using our last release (2.2.0) without?have Reference Transactions active on your account, you would need to enable “Manual Renewals” in the?WooCommerce > Settings >?Subscriptions tab. This way, buyers can sign up for the subscription and manually pay for the renewal orders. Only when Reference Transactions are activated on the merchant account, automatic renewals can take place.

Another change that is required, is to adjust the?Subscription capture behavior if Vault fails?away from the default (into one of the other 2 options). If you don’t, the plugin would still void the authorized payment, since nothing would be vaulted (without Reference Transactions activated on your account).

We are working on better solutions for this, but this will take a bit more time before it becomes available.

Let me know if you still have more questions for me.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

oh man how embarrassing that i didn’t notice something so obvious. now paypal is also displayed. manually renewing every year is still better than not offering paypal at all. Thank you very much. So for all of you who google it. A comment above me is the solution ??

    Hello @madmax98

No problem at all, we know this is a complex matter, and it takes some time to get comfortable with the process and understand it completely. If you have any doubts, we will be happy to help you, but must also inform you about the documentation we have available on this. In your case, the vaulting and subscriptions FAQ will be very useful.

I see this thread was already closed by you, but do not hesitate to open a new thread in case you need us again.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
