We are testing out Paypal Marketing Solutions but when we check the box in your plugin settings under Paypal Express to enable Marketing Solutions and hit save, it just shows that the checkbox is enabled but no other “settings” or link to any settings to decide what features are enabled or disabled (i.e. Insights, Smart banner, etc). Is that normal? I logged in to our Paypal Pro account and selected Marketing Solutions and it has instructions how to install it, I just selected WooCommerce, then it gives a code (which I ignored since your plugin says it adds it automatically) and hit done. It just says Finish Setup but no update (since need to wait for 50 hits at least Paypal says) so I just want to make sure I’m not missing anything.

Also, for Marketing Solutions, is it possible to enable Smart Incentives but only on certain pages (i.e. if we don’t want it to show Smart Incentives on the customer’s landing page/ home page, or if we only want it to show Smart Incentives on Product Page or Cart page, etc).

When you first enable Marketing Solutions in the plugin it will enable everything by default. If you go back to the same section of the settings panel now you should see a button that says Manage Settings. This is where you can adjust the individual features and functionality.

Please take a look at that and let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!

Unfortunately it seems like it isn’t working. I saw in the WooCommerce logs one for Paypal Marketing Solutions and it says:

{“name”:”Error”,”message”:”No permission for the requested operation.”,”details”:[],

I disabled it for now in Paypal for WooCommerce under Paypal Express (for some reason it just wouldn’t show the Manage Settings, instead even after saving and refreshing and logging out and back in it still just showed the checkbox on Paypal Marketing Solutions as if I had just selected it) and just set it up through Google Tag Manager. I’m assuming functionality and speed wise it shouldn’t matter which implementation? We already have Google Tag Manager set up for other tags on our site anyway.

Well, Google Tag Manager isn’t going to show up in your PayPal reports the way Marketing Solutions would. The error you reported sounds like your account must not have it available for some reason. Did you have your live API credentials entered when you set that up?

Yes I did. I also see marketing solutions available in my paypal account (Paypal Payments Pro Account with Paypal Express). The only thing I could think is maybe since I enabled Marketing Solutions in my Paypal Account itself first so I could adjust the settings then it won’t let your plugin do it now?

When going through Paypal Marketing Solutions information in our Paypal Account it shows how to implement it via Google Tag Manager, WooCommerce, etc.

Okay, I guess it may show up that way then. I’ve always just done it via the API so I wasn’t aware they had those other methods. Any of those methods should work for you then.

Ok great, I would have preferred to just do it through your plugin but I have no idea why it gives that error. Perhaps once you enable Paypal Marketing Solutions via Paypal.com in the Pro Account you can no longer use it through the app? I don’t know why else it just wouldn’t enable. Either way, I’ll let you know if the GTM setup still works. Right now it still shows waiting for report

Just updated, so it did work via Google Tag Manager. No idea why it wouldn’t work through your plugin/api for us.

Yeah, that is odd. Must be an issue with their API. I do see some reports from my PayPal reps about this, so I’ll just have to work with them on getting it resolved. Sory for the hassle! Glad you got it working the other way.
