    Hi,
I’m reporting a similar issue as many other users on here. This seems to be a compatibility issue on your end. When a user checkouts using WooCommerce and the PayPal Payment Gateway plugin – they just get a “WAIT” spinning wheel and waiting on the Payment Gateway to respond and it just hangs there. This site has been up and running successfully for a long time with no issues until very recently.

This problem seems to coincide with the recent WooCommerce upgrade(5.1.0) or possibly the new WordPress upgrade(5.7).

    Background – Current Configuration:
    WordPress V. 5.7
    WooCommerce V. 5.1.0
WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway V. 2.1.1

Note: I was extremely surprised when I was looking into this problem when I found this message – Warning: This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress. Why wasn’t this tested with WordPress 5.7?????

After seeing all the other users on here experiencing the same issue, and realizing that this Plugin has not been tested with WordPress 5.7, can you please tell me when you’ll have this tested with WP 5.7 and when you’ll provide a fix to this problem?

Please don’t just tell me it’s a Plugin compatibility issue. In fact, take a look at the Website and run some diagnostics if you like. Also, If you’d like me to run a TRACE or some DIAGNISTICS, please send me the instructions. I’d be happy to help.

NOTE: This is URGENT since my client’s site is running in production and this is causing a loss of revenue on a daily basis. Please get back to me ASAP!

Please test it for yourself: https://davesradiooutlet.com/

    Thank you,

CORRECTION TO MY TITLE FOR THIS OPEN ISSUE:
PayPal Gateway Stopped Working with WC(WooCommerce) Version 5.1.0

Changed it from “WP Version 5.1.0”. Typo, sorry.

Follow up: If it’s easier for you to just recommend a different, more reliable payment gateway plugin, I’m okay with replacing this gateway plugin. Please suggest one.

    Here are my requirements:
    1. Plug & Play (Easy to Setup)
    2. Supports WooCommerce
    3. My Client Only Sells in the USA
    2. Payment Types:
    a. PayPal
    b. Debit/Credit Cards (Visa, Master Card)
    c. Other Credit Cards/Payment types would be great but not required(Discover. Amex etc.).

    Thanks….

    Hey there!

Both WordPress and WooCommerce have had updates since the last version of Paypal Checkout was released in November 2020. That’s why you may see a message saying it hasn’t been tested with the current versions. The “tested up to” numbers are only changed when a new version of the plugin is released.

Since the plugin is working well with the current versions of WordPress and WooCommerce on the vast majority of sites, there was no need for a new release. When Paypal Checkout releases their next update, those numbers will be changed to match the current WordPress and WooCommerce versions.

When I went to your site to look at this further, I can’t seem to see the issue you are reporting. The PayPal Checkout plugin is working on your cart page, loading in a second or two:

Can you confirm you are seeing the same thing?

Hopefully that helps! Have a great one!

Thank you for replying. I got some clarification from my client: He said that the problem was reported to him by a few of his customers that when they were attempting to purchase using Credit Card/Debit Card payment options. Yes, I believe the PayPal option is okay but it’s a problem with Credit Card/Debit Card payment options.

Can you please get back to me.

    Thank you!

    Hi @wpallweb

    Thanks for your reply.

This actually happened with me on my test site recently, and I needed to clear my browser cache/cookies before the form would load again.

Can you please do the same and let me know if it helps? Alternatively, you can test this in another browser as well.

    Cheers!

    Hi laceyrod a11n,
Thank you so much for the reply.
I will ask the client to try and clear their browser cookies and cache and try it again.

Assuming this works, what does he tell his customers? They(customers) could be trying to purchase items and if they experience this problem, they’ll just abandon their cart in frustration and he may never hear from them again.

I’ve already cleared the website cache. If this works, how can I force browser cache clearing for unknown users?

    Thanks,

    Hi @wpallweb

    Thanks for your reply.

I suspect that this issue only happens to logged in users, and with this being said, it doesn’t even happen consistently for all logged in users. I had my colleague test, and he didn’t experience any issues. Once I cleared browser cache, the problem never returned on my own site.

You cannot force browser cache clearing for unknown users, but I don’t suspect they are the ones that will be facing the issue. If you are finding that other customers are experiencing this, I would make sure that the Cart/Checkout and My Account pages are excluded from any caching plugins and/or server cache: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/configuring-caching-plugins/. You may need to reach out to your web host about this to make sure these pages are excluded from any server level caching.

Have you had a chance to take these steps, and if so, did it resolve the issue? Also, I was able to test out your site, and the form did properly load for me:

    Hope this helps!

    Hi,
I just just back from my client. He cleared his cache and he is now no longer experiencing the problem. So, all is good. I guess we’ll wait to see if he gets any more complaints from his customers. He will now know what to instruct them to do(clear browser cache).

If I get any complaints from him, I’ll take your suggestion to see how I can exclude Cart/Checkout pages from cache.

I guess we can close this. If I encounter any further issues regarding this, I’ll open a new incident.

Thank you for all your help!
