    Hi there

Thanks for the great plugin and support

I used to use the standard PayPal payment gateway in WooCommerce + Subscription , everything works well.
Recently I wanna take Credit cards too, so I installed your great plugin

I just wanna to confirm, the PayPal Express Checkout is compatible with Subscription ? And I see there is Billing Agreement ID created in the order paid by Express checkout, so that means the renewal should be ok?

Also I see a button in the order page: Create Reference Transaction Order
Can you explain what does that do?

I also got an error notice email, but it’s empty in all the fields.

    Thanks again

Yes, Express Checkout is compatible with Woo Subscriptions, but you need to have Billing Agreements / Reference Transactions enabled on your PayPal account in order for that to work. Since you’re seeing a Billing Agreement ID that means you must have already done that, so you should be good to go. Of course, it’s always recommended to test things using the Woo Subscriptions test mode. You could setup a 1.00 test, for example, and run it on your live account to ensure the triggered reference transaction works as expected. Again, though, since you’re seeing a BAID you should be good.

The button to Create Reference Transaction Order would allow you to create a new order, separate from any subscription or anything, and process it using the billing agreement ID similar to how the subscription payments would be processed. So if you had a BAID on file for a customer, for example, and then they call you up to place another order, you could use the Create Reference Transaction Order button from their previous order, setup the new order, and process it immediately without the need to gather any new billing info.

Hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!

That is really helpful. Thanks for the answer.

Another question is, in the description of your plugin, it is saying ‘support Credit card payment’ for PayPal Exp checkout. But I don’t really see anything that like Stripe or Braintree do, which allows customers to directly put in their card numbers etc. and finish the purchase.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks again

PayPal calls that “Guest Checkout” and this is available with general Express Checkout payments. However, when working with Billing Agreements this is not available. For Billing Agreements people would need to have an account in order to pay through Express Checkout.

If you want to offer direct credit card processing then you’ll need to get setup with PayPal Pro or Braintree. With that the user can specifically choose to pay with credit card, and they’ll enter their card details on the WooCommerce checkout page for processing. Of course, with this method you’ll need to make sure you have an SSL installed on your site to protect the sensitive card data being entered.

No problem! If you have a moment to leave a review for the plugin that would be greatly appreciated.
