With the plugin “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway” I have the option to activate “Paypal Expres” that allows me to show the “debit and credit card” buttom
But with this plugin “WooCommerce PayPal Payments” the “Paypal Expres” option disapears, as well as the credit “debit and credit card” buttom.

    Hello @barrososimon

the credit card option is currently only available on the Checkout page by activating the
option Enable/Disable Enable the PayPal Gateway here: WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal > PayPal Card Processing > Enable/Disable []

The express payment option in our plugin only provides the option to pay with the standard PayPal option, not the credit card option.

    Does this answer your question?

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Hi @joostvandevijver, unfortunately it says that the Paypal Card Processing isn’t available in my country, is it a new policy?.
It’s a shame because with the “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway” plugin I had the option to add the credit and debit card button.

    Hello @barrososimon

Regarding the error message you received, the restrictions for the cad processing option can be found here:
    https://developer.paypal.com/docs/business/checkout/advanced-card-payments/currency-availability-advanced-cards/
It is managed by PayPal, so we have no influence on this.

When you don’t active the card processing option you will still see the credit card option from PayPal in the iFrame that PayPal uses as one of the standard PayPal payment options.

This option provides the same functionality, but is sometimes a bit less user friendly and might require the customer to fill in similar details as they already filled in the WooCommerce form. More details can be found here: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/integration-features/standard-card-fields/

Please try to deactivate the PayPal Card Processing option and see how your site responds to this. Let me know if that is an acceptable option for you.

    Kind regards,
    Joost

Hi @joostvandevijver thank you for your reply, I appreciate it.

However, the link you let me here related to the card processing is about “advanced credit and debit card payments” https://developer.paypal.com/docs/business/checkout/advanced-card-payments/ and this is no my case.

I just want to set up the “standard payment” https://developer.paypal.com/docs/business/checkout/set-up-standard-payments/ if you vist this link you can see the black button identified as “Debit and credit card”.

What I don’t understand is why with the plugin “WooCommerce PayPal Checkout Gateway” I can achieve this (in fact this is what I am using now), but with the new one “WooCommerce PayPal Payments” it is not possible.

Those buttons are also called “Smart Payment Buttons” https://developer.paypal.com/docs/checkout/ in this link you can also see the button identified as “Debit and credit card”, located just below the Paypal button.

    Kind regards,

    Simón

    Hello Simon,

the older PayPal payment options (Checkout and Standard) have a completely different setup and use older standards. This is why PayPal is pushing so hard to switch over to the newer version of the plugin. Our new version contains new features such as Vaulting, PayPal Card Processing and Pay Later.

The plugin has been built new from the ground up and is not really comparable with the older versions (even though the function is the same). It will be able to evolve with the market requirements without too many issues over the next year.

The PayPal Checkout plugin will remain available until around March next year. So if it works well for you and you are not interested in any of the new features the previous plugin should continue to work fine.

Regarding the “smart buttons”: the payment option buttons you are shown in the iFrame are called smart buttons. They are pushed into the iFrame by PayPal after PayPal get the details from the merchant, site and customer. This is also related to the new features described above. I believe you can get the debit or credit card as you showed in the links by deactivating the Card Processing in our plugin.

Let me know if this helps you further.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
