• Hello,

I have added a new custom field on the check out page of woocommerce. This additional field appears from the email sent from woocommerce, but not from the email sent from PayPal. My client wants to only uses PayPal emails to gather information for shipping out orders. Any ideas on why the extra order field is not transferring over to PayPal?

    Thank you!

Adding custom fields to your checkout page will not automatically carry over to PayPal because that data would need to be included in the API request to PayPal.

The thing is, PayPal only provides minimal fields, so there is not always a matching field in the API for something custom you might have.

PayPal does have a field in the API literally called “custom” that you can pass whatever you want in, but that would have to be customized in your system to use it, and it only provides that single field with 256 char. allowed.

Unfortunately, without some customization there is not any way to do what you’re after. If you would like a bid on such customization, though, feel free to contact us about that.

    Thank you for the information!

One more question. Will your plugin all buyers to access the “Instructions to Merchant” part on the paypal checkout screen?

    Thank you!

Yes, buyers can leave a note and that note would be included in the WooCommerce order details.
