Paypal donate button gives error.

  • Hello,
    I pasted the paypal button code in my blog post. When I preview and click on the paypal button, I get an error:

    We were unable to decrypt the certificate id.

    I think my website doesn’t have SSL.

    Does anybody know how to fix this error?

  • You don’t need SSL on your server to have Paypal buttons on your website. the WordPress editor has been known to mangle Paypal button HTML form code.

    If you find that is the problem you’re having, I sometimes use a plugin called custom-fields-shortcode and enter the Paypal code in a custom field, then use the plugin’s syntax to insert that custom field in the middle of the WordPress post.

    Another approach is to use the PayPal email link code as an A tag, and use the Paypal button image as the link trigger. WordPress editor doesn’t mangle that code.
