There’s an issue with the WooCommerce PayPal Payments Plugin.

When a customer clicks through from Facebook and uses Facebook browser to pay with PayPal the screen goes blank on the PayPal security authentication page.

I’ve tested it on other multiple browsers and works fine. So just the issue on Facebooks browser.

Just to note that I’ve changed themes and disabled all Plugins accept WooCommerce and WooCommerce PayPal Payments and the issue still persists.

    Hi @jakwalker,

In-app browsers more often than not do not support all features required for complex web applications or in some cases, even features such as the PayPal smart buttons. We’re looking into this behavior and have informed PayPal for further consideration.
There are plans for a fallback mode with improved compatibility but dedicated browsers like Chrome or Firefox usually provide a better user experience compared to in-app browsers.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi Niklas,

    Thank you for your reply.

Yes I’m aware that chrome and Firefox are a better experience 100%. However as alot of my customers come through from Facebook they tend to use the Facebook browser as standard because Facebook opens the website on the in-app browser by default.

I really hope you can come up with a solution as this leads to alot of abandoned carts because of it.

    Kind Regards

    Jak

    Hi @jakwalker,

We brought this up with our partners at PayPal and will investigate further.
There have been similar issues with the Twitter in-app browser and the buttons on the non-Checkout pages not working as expected, but these have been more or less consistent across all other PayPal integrations we tested.

Can you provide a few more details about the flow that’s failing? For example, does it work from the Checkout page? Or do the buttons open a blank new tab from all pages?
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Hi there

We have not heard back from you in a while, so I’m marking this thread as resolved.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to reopen this topic or create a new one.

    Cheers! ??

Same issue here and I believe it has to do with WebView and CORS. At least two 3rd party payment systems in Poland (Przelewy24 & BLIK) fail as payments when attempting to go through checkout while in WebView. Earlier versions would show a generic browser error, latest version loads the PayPal modal for a second before closing itself. This is after selecting the payment method button during checkout.
