However, I’ll mention a bit more in a broader way that encompasses other plugins as well, inline ??
– Will Payments go through PayPal on PayPals secure line so the customer never sees PayPal button at all? Can it be setup that way?
The payments would be secured by PayPal, yes. Users would be taken to the PayPal site for the completion of the checkout. You can change the graphics used for the purchase buttons though you may want to check with PayPal as they do have some restrictions with them.
– will I be charged a foreign exchange fee each month due to you being in Australia?
I’m not quite familiar with foreign fees there myself but I suspect that might be the case given the note about fees here:

– When the new members signup and login will they go directly to their registration area and not WP Dashboard? Can they return to edit?
There’s actually a specific return URL they’re taken too after payment. But there’s also a filter that can be used for custom code as noted here:

It would be more advanced in this particular case so you’ll want to have a look through the plugin code to see how to best implement that, or you could hire a developer to make that work.
– Can i use the same registration for membership to allow the member to create a directory listing or a classified ad?
Sure, I’ll answer that on the basis of any front-end solution. You can restrict access to the URL used for the creation of listings.
– Can it be setup up to different membership levels to allow/disallow different activities (dir list/classified).
There are ways to facilitate that, either by way of user role integration (in the Advanced section of Access Levels) or by restricting access on a URL basis.
