PayPal Account Optional

  • I turn the “PayPal Account Optional” ON in my woocommerce settings for “PayPal Express Checkout” payment settings. But when I click the PayPal Checkout button in my cart I see the sandboxed paypal page That says something like “I do not have a PayPal account, and I want to create one.”(the other one is something like “I have a PayPal account”). The Country selected is Turkey. After that payment option title there is the credit card info fields. When I change the country to USA I see the same option title as in your second product video.

    I do not want to my customers just about to make payment with a Paypal account creation. Those things are not standard as it is stated.

    As far as I know and I have read from the paypal documents PayPal Express Checkout allows credit card payments without having a paypal account.
    The payment flow I have tried is with my PayPal Sandbox account with its credentials.
    Why I see this option instead of a plain “pay with credit card checkout” option?

  • You have to turn on PayPal Account Optional via your PayPal account profile. It doesn’t sound like you’ve done that. It isn’t enough to check the PayPal Account Optional box via your WooCommerce admin. It has to be turned on at PayPal as well (if you look closely, there is a statement about this beneath the checkbox in your WooCommerce admin).

    If you’re currently using Sandbox, you need to log in to sandbox.paypal.com and go to your Profile. Under Website Payment Preferences, make sure PayPal Account Optional is set to ON.

    When live, do the same as above via your Profile at paypal.com.

    Also, back at your WooCommerce PayPal Express admin page, you should set the Landing Page to Billing rather than Login.

    @jjbte is correct. I would have said the exact same thing, so please check those items and let me know if it helps.
