• I want to sell products on my blog, but my PayPal buttons will not work.

I have another, non-wordpress site, and the code (and buttons) work there. But when I try and create a Products page on WordPress, the buttons will not work. Does anyoen know if I have to modify the code or add to it?

I ask them questions and no one can answer. They can just put me on hold then come back and say they will have to open a new ticket.

You see the way it looks now? With all the black? He camce back and said he “went to the page, and is it supposed to look this way?”

Do your hosts offer some sort of file manager in your hosting account? Can you use that to look at your site’s folders & files?

Yes, but it is Greek to me… even how to access the folders. I am on with someone in tech support in Arizona who is attempting to restore me to yesterday’s backup.

If you’re still getting no joy, you might want to look at hiring someone who knows something about WordPress. The situation is salvageable.

Thank you, Esmi. Still no joy. The site backup for which I pay are not fixing my issue. We sheep are at the mercy of these wolves who keep taking our money and offer no real support. They keep trying to say its “a WordPress issue.” Everything was fine utill I asked a question to someone about frames.

Do I just post a request there for someone to work for me?

I am looking more at IPower’s backup and they tell me they strongly encourage me to back up the files myself as well as relying on their backup. It’s funny that when I asked this question earlier this year, they just kept saying, via chat support, that they backed up everything.

Anyway, in their backup instructions, they say it doesn’t work with SQL files. Is WordPress, by any chance, that?

Looks like I’ll be finding a new domain host soon.

Your WordPress database would be backed up as an .sql file, yes.

Of course. I thought I might have remembered it that way. They charge me for a “back up” and then “strongly recommend” that I also back up my files to my computer. Then they say that it doesn’t work for SQL.

Well, sometime around 10(PDT) last night, my blog was restored. I received a report on my Open Ticket this morning that they’d “repointed” some files. It is NOT back to how it was, nor is it what I am looking for, which is to have BillKasal.com point to my blog and NOT have it in a frame so that my Paypal buttons will work. BUt right now everything is restored to Billkasal.com/blog, which is miles ahead of where it was yesterday.

I replied to the item by asking the person who restored it to please call me so I can try and explain what I want and see if they can offer me some options before I am forced to find a new host. I am petrified to talk to anyone in their support department now.

Thank you, esmi (and zoonini) for your patience in trying to help me. I’ll let you know when/if I get it fixed.

Get them to remove the redirect on BillKasal.com. Then see Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory for a way to re-configure WordPress to take over BillKasal.com whilst still sitting in BillKasal.com/blog.

Thank you, esmi. You sent me that link yesterday. I have read and reread it, but I cannot get past step five. I opened my General Settings and can see they are set to billkasal.com/blog, but after that I cannot comprehend.

I appreciate everything you have done for me and I am ashamed that I cannot so this.

    I wish you well…

It’s a relatively quick job to do if you’ve done it before, so hiring someone to do it on your behalf shouldn’t cost very much. Not sure I’d trust your hosts to carry it out after your recent problems.

Since I replied to you, I’ve been trying to understand, but I am not sure how to access those files at my host. If I put up a post on jobs, can someone help me with this on line, or do I have to find someone in California to come to me?

The person you hire can be on the other side of the world and it won’t matter one bit.

    I emailed you.

    Received & replied.
