OK, I’ve updated the plugin to the newest version, also updated PHP, cleaned MySQL, and it works again.

Still, do you think it was caused by some bug in the previous version or likely something else? What’s important to check for in the future, just in case?

    Thanks for the awesome plugin!

This was the thorn in my side with the older version.. gesman can confirm but my guess was the APIs coded into the plugin to do the check on balances and confirmations was hitting limitations and thus cutting off future calls.

Id like to see the plugin have an easy way to choose between a few of the looser API providers (blockr.io block cypher coinkite for example.

until that happens, im betting that this problem comes up every few months..

PS: new version by default auto-completes orders that were paid in full.
It also sends a separate email to notify store admin about payment received to make life easier for store owners to act to fullfill the order.

I will implement more API support behind single umbrella API so that blockchain request will work in more reliable manner instead of relying on hardcoded provider.

that would be key i think to a self-sustainable plugin..

if u can get it to the point where it can choose API providers (maybe include a dropdown with a few of todays common providers that we know are friendly to api calls.

and it works as u say it does (which i certainly believe because i actually managed to get the old one to work properly and im nowhere close to a coder.

I pledge to donate $250 or buy the pro license for $250 whatever u prefer.

It would also be very helpful if u could explain if there really is any advantage to the pro version.

and i really hope the community supports gesman after the release of a revamped plugin. I don’t fault gesman for having to abort the project as im betting that the support was minimal and people have real lives.

In reality, a crowdfunded effort of ~$1200 is NOTHING compared to what this script can do if it functions right. Because I’ve asked over and over and heard nothing – what alternatives exist? None. Go to coinbase or bitpay and all pay far more than $1200 over time with their commissions.

So if we want long-term support and updates and gesman puts forth the initial effort out of good will, i think we need to make sure we support and intent maintenance of this project or im sure gesman will need to go back to real-life stuff to pay the bills.

don’t want to speak for u gesman but i imagine that if the community provides ongoing financial support, ur willing to keep this project going and keep it working and updated?

    Thanks for the clarification!

The plugin indeed does stop confirming payments from time to time, so we’ve become used to disabling / enabling it again every day which seems to kinda solve the issue.

As Jerry mentioned, please could you tell us more about extra features available in Pro version?

… For example, moving paid orders to “Complete” isn’t usually very useful for physical items, so we had to disable it right away. I believe that for physical items, most sellers use an additional step like “Preparing to ship”, or else it would have become a mess very quickly.

… Also, an option to disable admin’s email notifications about paid orders would be useful, as it generates quite a lot of spam in case of high turn-over shops.

… On the other hand, some kind of notification about partly paid orders would be great. Many people allow their wallets to deduct fees from the total, making received amount a bit short. Which in turn causes misunderstandings and unnecessary delays over few cents.

… What also comes in mind would be an option to set more than 1 hour time-limit for payments to get registered. In some cases people seem to barely miss it, which against results in some unnecessary delays.

    Thanks!

Ifnai, can u tell me the steps u took to clean the db to prep for a fresh plugin install? I cant get the new gesman plugin to work and i think its cuz of residual db referencesnto an old version.

Can u give me some guidance?

I was running te old gesman plugin that i had self-band-aided into working. I checked that delete db box before deactivating and deleting, then i installed the new gesman plugin. Then i cleared client sessions.

    But i get various errors..

What are “various errors” that you are getting?
    Be specific pls.

    Hi jerry,

sorry, but I can remember exactly.

We were at the phase where we wanted to clean as much as possible of old and / or needed databases and went all in.

After the new update, gesman’s plugin works great 99% percent of the time. We haven’t experienced any real issues with it, but keep an eye on it just in case it stops accepting new transactions (when this happens though, a simple reset of the plugin solves the problem).

gesman, we and I believe many other would LOVE to help you to move this plugin forward. Make it paid perhaps to make some money out of it and have more time to work on it?

There is really nothing similar out there, but some minor improvements could be great!

I haven’t been able to find any advantage to the PRO version. Please could you elaborate on that?

tl;dr We want to give you money, just want to be sure about continued updates and support in turn.

Hell, I’d even throw you 0.5 BTC right away if you’d implement some kind of admin-friendly way for:

    1) Including a check-box to enable / disable “Payment complete email notifications”

    2) Including a check-box for email notifications about “almost” complete payments (admin could also define a percentage for these)… Some wallets or apps deduct fees instead of adding these to the total, so there are some almost complete payments (few cents short) that we are not aware of until a customer starts asking.

    Best wishes!

    3) Almost forgot, a way for admin to define a time-limit so it can be more than 1 default one hour.

    Plugin Author gesman

    (@gesman)

#1 is easy to do. In fact latest plugin update includes admin email notification about payment received – although only when “FULL” payments is received.

#2 requires global changes of SQL queries across plugin code – but doable with some effort.

Although i agree with you – “almost” complete payments due to “fee” issue with some wallets probably won’t be an issue with many merchants.

I’ll look into these when having time. Thanks for your feedback – all are good ideas.

i have to remove the working gateway and reinstall the new version to say exactly but heres what i remember.

Basically, once i uninstalled another bitcoin gateway and installed your latest version, it would take me up to the check out page but then not show a QR code and give a debug error that was basically looking for the pro version of the bitcoinway plugin. i figured that there was something leftover from my original install a long time ago. Or the custom version i was running left something behind.

The way I understand that i should try a reinstall is to make sure i have the box checked to DELETE ALL SETTINGS before i actually delete/remove the plugin for bitcoinway plugin which is currently deactivated (im running some other plugin that allows bitcoin payments. Once I remove it, is there anything u can recommend i check to see if there is anything left hanging around like tables/fields? or should a reinstall take care of the rest. Ill have to report back the exact errors if it happens again. Any pre-guidance on checking that im starting with a clean db/system with no traces of old bitcoinway plugins would be great.

Or is there somewhere that I can see what that checkbox that removes all settings upon deleting plugin is actually supposed to do? that way i can check if its missing something or troubleshoot that way..

gesman – i get the sense that zero confirmations are no longer allowed or functioning.. is that true or am i reading into some comments incorrectly?

    >>he way I understand that i should try a reinstall is to make sure i have the box checked to DELETE ALL SETTINGS before i actually delete/remove the plugin for bitcoinway plugin

That is correct. There is nothing else to do if you want complete cleanup.

@ifna – i may have a fix for 2 of the specific thing u mentioned but would be best if we coordinate offline. can u try me on either bitcointalk under jerry508 or email jerry508 at GMAIL.

Will post back a organized solution to this board if we hit one
