For some reason my payments are not marking as complete when they come in. I had disable IPN unchecked then I read the documentation and it said to check it if this became an issue, so I did that and it’s still an issue.

This just started after the latest WP update and it seems to happen mostly on transactions where the donation info doesn’t match the Paypal info.. for example:

In Give the Name says Joe Smith email [email protected] but
In PayPal the Name says Mary Smith email [email protected]

So, it’s as if when they fill out the form on the website with their info, but then use a PayPal account that doesn’t match that info, it won’t match and complete. The invoice/transaction IDs still match and that is how I am able to manually look up each donation and set them to Complete, but this is not ideal. I don’t have the time to do this every day. I need our Goals to update and the donations to auto-complete.

I also have several (17 to be exact) that are pending with no logs in Paypal. I’m wondering if they actually did not go through, or if the information was under a different name/paypal account and I just can’t locate it.

Our Give plugin is version 1.3.4

    Hi guys,

This is standard practice because of the nature of how the PayPal standard donation is done. Basically, once they fill out the information in your form and hit “Donate” the transaction is set to Pending, and the donor is redirected to PayPal. If at that point they don’t actually complete their donation at PayPal.com then the transaction stays in Pending state.

We are implementing a new feature that will circle back on those transactions and if they are still in Pending status after a certain amount of days — maybe 7 days — they will get automatically updated to “Abandoned” status.

    I hope that clarifies. Thanks!

That’s not what’s happening though. The transactions ARE going through PayPal. I go to PayPal and check the transaction ID from Give in our website and match it with the one in PayPal and everything matches up- time, date, payment, ID. But the Payment is not marking complete, even after 7-10 days. I even had a payment clear paypal and in Give it marked as abandoned a few days later.

So there is clearly a miscommunication issue between the plugin and Paypal returning information back to the plugin once a payment does clear PayPal.
