• We’ve used this plugin with no issues for a while but not since 2020 as my client hasn’t had events – we’ve gone to set it up for a new event and seemingly we’re having some issues where:

    – Payment goes through Paypal fine
    – Payment Status is PENDING in payments
    – Therefore ticket is NOT sent
    – Still marked as an ACTIVE CART in payments
    – Payment log shows payment as completed but status as INVALID

    Can you advise?

    For any invalid payment status, you should have received an email sent to your admin email with some further information about the scenario. The most common are things like a changed primary PayPal email, but there can be some variety.

    Where are you seeing ‘Invalid’ as a status, exactly? Is the plug-in version up to date?

    Thanks for the response.

    It’s marked as that under the payments section where it still shows as an active cart and says payment status pending…

    It’s in the payment log that it’s showing as status INVALID.

    The payment status on the order is complete and the data is complete so not sure what’s gone wrong.

    The plugin version is up to date!

    We are running the plugin on another site and it seems to run fine so just wondering if this is an issue you’ve seen before or if it’s a case of figuring out if there’s a plugin conflict? Or if it’s in fact something on Paypal’s side?

    So, there’s nothing in My Tickets that’s literally called Payment Log, and ‘Invalid’ is not normally a status that should appear; though it’s possible if it’s a value passed from another application. However, to know exactly where that might be coming from, I need to know where you’re seeing it – can you post a screenshot that shows that?

    I’m assuming that it means that PayPal saw the payment as invalid, so did not complete it.

    – have you verified that the email used is the primary email in PayPal’s settings?
    – have you verified that you’re using live PayPal data and are in live mode *or* you’re using sandbox log-in data and are in test mode? That data can’t be mixed, so using a live merchant ID and email while in test mode won’t return valid results.

    We have this plugin on 2 sites and it’s on both.

    We have verified the email, yes, and we are 100% in live mode!

    It looks to me like the issue is somewhere between the payment notification > PayPal as the payment isn’t being marked as complete which is causing the issue even though it is complete!

    Plugin wise we’ve disabled a few but is there anything in your experience that could be causing this issue?

    OK. So that’s the response from the PayPal IPN, letting your server know that it received the payment, and is responding as ‘Invalid’.

    Is this happening on every payment, or is it just occasionally? I’m wondering if it’s a character in the purchaser’s provided name that isn’t being transmitted correctly. If any of the data is different between what’s provided and what’s verified, that would result in an invalid message.

    It’s every payment yeah we tested with 3 separate Paypal accounts ??

    I just added your Stripe add-on and that works fine for now as we’ve not got the time to troubleshoot this issue really but at least you’re aware of it if it pops up again!
