Payment failed due to duplicate order ID

First, thank you for all of the work that you all have done on the plugin. It’s been great so far, and made our jobs much easier. ??
Recently, we ran into a situation where we would get the error, “Payment failed due to duplicate order ID”, despite having the invoice ID prefix set, as well as enabling duplicate payments on our PayPal account.
Our system is setup to authorize payments, but to have the funds captured manually. We ran into this issue when a user needed to void the authorization on a credit card and use a new card on the same order. Voiding the authorization went through without a problem, but when they tried to run the new payment method, they received the duplicate id error.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!
