With the free version is it possible to have say a paying bronze member paying $4.95 a month then they decide to upgrade their membership level to silver level at $9.95 and the system will make the proper changes with Paypal without having to do this manually.

Yes, that’s what PayPal Modification Buttons are for.

Thanks not sure I ever heard of those before have to learn about them. So I guess I would just create a spot of upgrading their membership in the site correct?

They are on the same page as the other PayPal buttons.

You can place them wherever you want. A typical place is on the MOP so that the user sees them when trying to access content that’s above their current access level.

    Thanks KTS915 as always.

Thing I am wondering is how does the plugin know from paypal to upgrade or downgrade a membership that is no longer being paid if we are using buttons.

By the way do you know of any good membership options pages I can use that may be good examples?

So long as you put the modification button where the user must already be logged in, s2Member can then recognize who the user is and send the necessary ID info to PayPal, which then communicates back to s2 what should happen to the subscription. So it all happens seamlessly.

For examples of MOPs, I’d just visit sites where they limit what you can see until you’ve paid, and see how they are designed.

Perfect…! Thanks..! One last question about paypal. So in the future when things are going nicely I can upgrade to Pro version and use pro forms without any issues with existing member’s correct.

The example MOP’s I actually did Google some membership sites but could not find any I really liked.

Yes, upgrading to use forms will cause you no problems with PayPal at all.

What about looking at newspapers or magazines with paywalls, and see how they present their MOPs?

You mean online newspapers or magazines?

I am looking at this closer I dig deeper into this and realize I think I want to use JVZoo to help with the affiliate side of things.

This video below shows an integration method for S2Member and JVZoo
    https://youtu.be/wEYMj5PYhok

However, not sure will I still be able to handle allowing members to offer Free and two different paid membership levels as well as offer ability for member to upgrade from within my site and Paypal is updated as well as membership level without the hassle of having to do this manually?

Also, is there an easy way for a member to cancel and downgrade their membership back to Free without me manually having to do.

In addition is there any way to have different welcome pages for each first time member as well as different membership levels?

    Thanks

    @zorro1965,

You should start a new thread about JVZoo. I have no idea about it, and you won’t get help from anyone who does because the title of this thread says nothing about JVZoo, so no-one will even know that you’re asking about it.

As to your other questions, they are addressed in s2member -> PayPal Options -> Automatic EOT Behavior and s2member -> General Options -> Login Welcome Page respectively.

Thanks I understand about what your saying about JVzoo
