Pausing sending of Post notifications

    Hi! Most of the time, I want my subscribers to know that I’ve posted something and MailPoet is great for that by sending out an email as soon as I publish. Occasionally though, I want to Post something that I *don’t* want to promote. I read on the MailPoet page that the sending of the email notifications can be paused in ‘settings’ by switching the mail sending mechanism to ‘other’. I tried that and it worked perfectly. However, as soon as I switched it back… an email was sent out for my most recent Post (the one that I *didn’t* want to tell subscribers about). Is there any way to suspend the sending of Post notifications so that when I switch MailPoet back on, it doesn’t play ‘catchup’ and send out any unsent notifications?

    I’ve tried reaching out using the link on MP’s website (for free users) but I get ‘forbidden’ when I click on the link.

    Thank you for reaching out to us.

    Instead of switching your sending method to “other” in the settings, MailPoet has a built-in feature that allows you to toggle the post notification status (see screenshot below):

    Thanks for this tip, it’s very helpful – I’d missed that option that you showed in your screenshot. So, I guess I switch the status OFF before publishing and when the Post has been published, switch it back ON? And just to confirm… it won’t try to ‘catch up’ and try and publish past Posts when I switch the status back on again?

    No, sorry, on testing, your suggestion, unfortunately, does not solve the issue. After switching status to OFF, I published my Post and instant notify did not function (as expected). But, as soon as I flicked the status back ON, it played ‘catch-up’ by notifying all my subscribers. To clarify, I’m looking for a way to be selective about auto notifying my subscribers – I want to be able to publish to my Blog *sometimes* and NOT notify my subscriber-base of the Post AT ALL. Is this possible? In your previous reply above, you seemed to suggest it was

    Unless it’s spam, abuse or something broken in the forums please do not report topics again.

    It is not a means to get faster support, it only gets forum moderators attention and no one else. On WordPress.COM it is different but reporting a topic or tagging it modlook is not for getting a response here on this site.

    If you do not get a reply from support that is 100% alright. These are volunteer support forums and that includes this developer and plugin support.

    Apologies for taking this long to get back to you. As the solution provided by my colleague didn’t work, I’d recommend adding a category to the post you don’t want to send to your subscribers and then set the Automatic Latest Content widget to exclude posts with that category.     Yes, it took far too long to get a response here, and I thought I’d been ignored or forgotten about – or no-one knew how to solve my problem. In the end, out of desperation, I reached out to MailPoet themselves who offered a similar suggestion. Problem now solved, thanks! ?? Steve
