Paths wp-content/backups-dup-pro{/tmp} not created in Duplicator Pro install

In Duplicator Pro when I try to create new package, requirements checks fail for the permissions of the paths ../wp-content/backups-dup-pro and ../wp-content/backups-dup-pro/tmp. I checked the server’s file system and those paths weren’t created in the plugin’s install process. Manually creating those paths with 755/777 privileges did not solve the problem.

Has anybody encountered this issue and fixed it before? Any ideas on how to resolve this?
