• I am trying to add a new page with photo. I copy the url from the media page and attempt to paste it in the value area on “add new page” and it will not paste.

In the page edit screen area, click on the Add Image button next to the words Upload/Insert at the top left hand side. This will open up a shadowbox image management menu – look in your Media Library for the image you’ve already uploaded. Click on Show to open up the options for that image, and choose the size/alignment you want, then click on Insert into post.

It’s in the custom fields area. I am using word as a website not blog.

That doesn’t matter. It’s the same process for both pages and posts, and the Add Image dialogue says Insert into post for both.

If your theme doesn’t have the custom fields defined for the page template, then adding it via custom fields won’t do a thing.

Also, you may inadvertently be pasting in the URL to the image attachment-page rather than the URL to the image itself, if you’re unaware that WordPress shows the attachment-page URL by default and you have to pick ‘file’ to have it show you the direct image URL.

I have folios on the website that have larger images and then a thumbnail that users click on to bring up the larger image. In order to have it all work properly I-
    1. go to pages
    2. add new
    3. name page
    4. add to parent and order
    6. under custom field -name – I pick the image size I want it to be.
    7. Meanwhile from media I upload the appropriate image and copy the file url
    8. I paste the url into value
9.I then hit add new custom filed and add the smaller image the same way.
I tried what you say but it does not seem to work. I am not sure if the person who set this up for me hacked wordpress to do what I need.
I have been doing what I explained above all along and it has worked fine until today.

I suspect that the person who set it up for you did add some custom tweaks/hacks to get WordPress to do that. Have you recently updated your site to a new WordPress version? You might have broken some of the tweaks/hacks if so.
