Hi, a multi-user blog I write for just updated to the Gutenberg editor, and I’m having trouble using the HTML view (even after I finally found it!). I write my posts in Textedit and then paste them into WordPress right before posting them. I include the HTML as I go because it’s faster for me to type it than to format things using a WYSIWYG editor.

But now I’m trying to paste the post into the HTML editor and as soon as I click outside the post box WordPress is deleting all but the first two paragraphs. I’ve been trying to do this for over and hour now and I can’t get it to keep the whole post. What’s going on and how do I fix this?!

  • I tried it but didn’t have the problems you are having. You could also use the classic block under the formatting section. if you click the option you can switch it to html edit

Yeah, I did switch it to HTML editor, but it wouldn’t let me paste the whole post in there. It only kept the first couple hundred words. The site owner finally installed the plugin that puts back the old editor, so that worked. Seems dumb to have an HTML editor in the new one that doesn’t even work.
