• I have a page “members login” that is password protected. When the password is entered, it is supposed to go to (link to) the “news” page. The “news” page is defined in the the “members login” Permalink.

When news is not in the Permalink, the password works. As soon as I put news in the Permalink, the password request is ignored and the user is linked directly to the news page.

How do I get WordPress to recognize the password in the “Members Login” page and then link to news after the password has been successfully entered.

I look forward to your help

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • I think you have the wrong definition of “Permalink”. When WordPress uses the term Permalink, it means the URL of the page, which is fairly permanent (unchanging), and always gets you the same thing when you go there. In terms of page creation, it answers the question: “What address should be used to display this content?”

So, when you say you have a page that you put different things in the permalink field and it behaves differently, then it sounds like you are changing the address of the page instead of changing a link on the page.
If you want a redirect after entering a password, that is very different from changing the permalink.
