Password Strength

Hi Ingrid, our plugin (specifically, the Front End Login module) doesn’t enforce any password strength restrictions. We are planning to add those options to the next release, but they’re not available yet. If you’re seeing a password strength error, there’s probably another plugin enforcing it.

Also, the only place in which users set a password using the Front End Login module is on the “forgot password” screen. If your user is seeing the error when creating a new account, you’ll need to check with whatever plugin you’re using for registration.

The issue is not with the registration, but once they have been set up and have forgotten the password they set up. So they go to the forgot password screen which has the following variables

Reset Password Form
Enable password strength
Password strength apply to
All Roles
An Author, Editor or Administrator

Have I misunderstood what enable password strength does?

Hi Ingrid, sorry about that; you’re absolutely right. That feature was actually not supposed to be included in the last release, but was accidentally merged into the release branch.

We’re releasing an update today that will simplify that feature by removing the role options (it will simply to apply to all users when enabled) and making the strong password requirement minimum 8 characters with at least 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, and 1 number. That should be out by the end of the day. Sorry for the confusion!

I am having a similar problem with the password. The instruction states:

Hint: The password should be at least twelve characters long. To make it stronger, use upper and lower case letters, numbers, and symbols like ! ” ? $ % ^ & ).

But when I enter a password with these parameters, it doesn’t enable me to save the password as it says it is too weak. Could you tell me where I can change these parameters please?
