• Password stopped working. Clicked “forgot password” and entered my email address. The next window had only this:
“The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function…”

I didn’t know I was sending an email!

At any rate — does anyone know what I’m supposed to do now? I can’t access my blog!

    Sincerely,

    Geri Laffety

  • I hope the Moderators don’t mind the link, but here’s a video showing you how to change your password through phpMyAdmin:

That should do the trick for you.

Thanks guys, but you need a password to get to the admin panel!

    I’m not changing the password . . . I’m requesting my password.

Geri, it seems you can’t get in with the password you currently have (you said it stopped working). And then when you click on the “Forgot Password” the system won’t email it to you.

So you need an alternative way to get in.

The video I linked to shows you how to change your password through the database. Once you change it, go back to your login page and try logging in with your new password.

If it still doesn’t work, then you have another issue going on.

WPBlogHost – your video ROCKS! However, for some reason the WP “lost password” finally worked and I was able to reset that way.

But in the meantime I followed your video and was in the SQL database when the temporary password WP sent actually worked. I got the “email not enabled” message several times and my host assured me that it is NOT disabled, so I have no idea what was going on.

Thank you both (you and Samboll) for sending suggestions.
