I’m working on setting up a podcast for work behind a paywall (hence password protection), and I want to make it as mobile as possible. So far, no password-protection issues for iPhone/iPad/iTunes in general.

I’d like to add the same feed, also password-protected, for Android and Windows and Amazon devices. Planning to use Stitcher as of now, since all of the other free Android podcast apps so far have issues accessing the stream at all when it’s locked.

I’m having a tough time searching through all of the forum topics and was hoping for some help since I’ve just been blindly trying things this whole time.

    Thanks for your help!

The password protection uses the standard HTTP protection and passes the 401 Unauthorized header when the password is not entered in correctly. If the Android apps you are using do not conform to that standard then there’s nothing I can do about it as the issue is actually on their side for not using the proper HTTP rules.

I’m not sure what further help I can be here as the password protection is totally normal and conforms to the web standards for this kind of thing. You’ll need to contact the app developers and have them do things correctly on their side.

    Cheers,
    Hugh

OK, great. I just wanted to check if you knew of any non-Apple services that worked.

    Thanks!
