    Morning,

since I updated my page to 4.0.1, my password protected pages all give a 404 error when i enter the correct password. This happens only if im not logged in on my website. If i am, i get to see the proper content.

It all worked fine be4 i updated, and i didnt change any settings.

    What can i do?

    Regards,
    Oebie

How are you password protecting the pages?

By going to pages, open the specific page, on the top right side i have visibility on ‘password’ protected instead of ‘public’.

If im logged in with my admin account, i can visit the page after entering the password. If i’m not logged in with anyone, the page asks me for a password, wich i enter, but then i get the 404 error.

You must be using a plugin to add the password capability, as that’s not an option under the standard WordPress interface.

If you know the plugin that is adding that capability, I would ask your question in the support forum for that plugin.

The ability to password protect a page has always been a feature in WordPress since I’ve been working in it (2008). I am having the same issue btw and need a fix.

Sorry, just learned something new. Not sure, but maybe this thread will help?

Have you tested to see if newly created password protected pages have the same problem?
