    Hey dktop,

Just letting you know I am looking into your qusetion. I will get back to you with an update soon.

Any update on this… I don’t want to use member management, I just want to set unique passwords on different media files.

    Thanks!

Hi. I too would like this feature… for attachments in a page marked as private (password-protected, OoB WP functionality), if the page’s password has already been entered, use this to allow users to download the media files.

    Hi All,

I just set an .htaccess password on the _mediavault directory. I can password protect the page with a unique password OoB WP, and then if they click a link to download, they are prompted with a request for a user/pass. I just explain it is to make sure things are secure, and it gets the job done.

Would love it if mediavault added option that redirected through password protected/post/page to ensure they could access the content and prevent spiders from crawling.

Thanks Jake for sharing your work-around!

Max, please add my vote for password protected pages & posts to your most excellent plugin. It would be GREAT if basic WP password protection for pages & posts could be integrated…

Would it be possible to do a cookie check – and add ‘basic password protection’ as an option to the File Access Permission drop-down on the Attachment Details Screen? From the WP codex:
“WordPress stores this password in a browser cookie so readers don’t have to re-enter passwords if they visit the same page multiple times. Furthermore, if multiple posts use the same password, the reader will only have to enter the password once to access every post”

Thanks again for the great plugin!
