Password Protect Media

  • Hello everyone. I hope someone here can help me (and forgive me if this was already asked). Here is what I am looking for:

    I need a pluging that will password protect media files. I have a few PDF files that I do not want just anyone to be able to download. I know that I can password protect the page/post that the link is on. However, someone can still link directly to the file with no problem. Is there a pluging out there that will require a password to before it will allow a download?

    I do not want people to have to register on the site to get the download. I would rather just give them the link/password in an email.

    So, I take it by the lack of response that there is no way to do this? I’m sure that ther eis some kind of media manager out there. I’ll keep looking. In the mean time, I’ve just password protected the files themselves so that they can’t be opened without the password.

    Honestly, the lack of response really doesn’t surprise me. My last few questions have gone unanswered. I know, I know: “We’re all volunteers. Blah, Blah, Blah.” I’m not trying to start a fight. Just observing.

    I think in this case, it’s because there isn’t a very good answer – I’ve been looking for this functionality too, and have yet to find an elegant solution.

    Have you had any luck since your posts a few months back?
