• I recently switched to requiring user registration to comment … many of my readers registered, one could not. When I attempted to create a new user for him, the ‘repeat password’ box indicated a mismatch instantly.

I know this is a recurring bug, because it has come up before in other forums.

My reader cannot register, either, doesn’t get an email with a new password.

BTW: I could not log on wi/ my usual username on this forum b/c the password issued by the WordPress server was not recognized over here (I had to re-register).

That’s something that threw me off for a minute or two in the past as well, but it’s actually an expected behavior.

The ‘repeat password’ box will always immediately indicate a mismatch – because technically it is – right up until the entire password is re-entered. Then you should get a green light as long as they match.

The user accounts and passwords on your own WordPress site have nothing in common with user data on this site. The two aren’t linked in any way. The user data on your self hosted site is all stored in your own database.

Understand about the eager match-maker on ‘create user’ form, thanks.

I could not log on here with the password emailed to me from your server (my original WordPress ID has a Hotmail address, this ID has G-mail address.)

No harm … but very strange nevertheless.

    thanks.
