hello!! LOVE your plugin its just what i needed to keep my site going and make it look professional. however in my notification for new subscribers, when they get their welcome email, i use the password shortcode to display their password and it’s not showing. I would like new subscribers to have a record of their password when they register

Also: i have a custom url to my reset password page instead of the provided shortcode (which sends me to the wp reset password page instead, i want to keep front end users out of wp admin pages)..anyway the custom url sends me to the homepage instead of the https://www.website.com/lostpassword

    Hi @venustarot,
Thanks for your message and glad you like the plugin.

The ‘welcome email’ (called the post-registration notification in BNFW) cannot use the password shortcode. Instead, you need to use the ‘New User Registration – For User’ notification in order to use the password shortcode.

With regards to using a different lost password page, how are you doing this? Are you using a plugin or are you achieving this in code?

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hello there!
I updated the plugin today hoping it would help. I sent a test email to a new member at my site using the ‘New User Registration – For User’ setting. the shortcode [password] outputs a login url to my wordpress instead of showing a password.

I figured out the issue with my lost password, i had to use another browser where i wasn’t logged in, i displayed it by using a link instead of a shortcode which was displaying as my wp lost password page instead.

No, it’s not fixed, it doesn’t show the password, it shows a UrL instead. Im using the [password] shortcode.

    Hi @venustarot,
Ah, I misunderstood your last reply.

Are you using the latest version of WordPress and BNFW? Prior to 4.0, WordPress handled passwords differently.

Also, do you have any other plugins that change the login screen, or have any membership or profile editing functions?

    Thanks,
    Jack

Whoops! yes, have a custom login screen for members at my site (subscribers)

    Hi @venustarot,
Ah, in that case, can you confirm that BNFW works as expected if you deactivate your custom login screen plugin and then re-try the notification?

    Thanks,
    Jack

My custom login is coded into my wp functions, im not using a plugin for it. I had help coding it because i don’t want subscribers to be able to login at the wordpress page, using the site page instead.

    Hi @venustarot,
Ok, in that case, unless you’re able to test without this code, which I imagine is what is causing the issue, then there’s not much I’m able to do.

If you were able to use a default theme (such as Twenty Seventeen) and re-test and there was still a problem, I would be able to help more.

    Would this be possible?

    Thanks,
    Jack
