This is not about a wordpress powerd site I own, this is about my loging HERE at www.remarpro.com.

I use a password manager to store my passwords, and I log in and everything is fine for a week or two. Then I will come to the site and I will be logged out and my password will no longer be valid.

Sometimes it will be invalid both on support and on make, sometimes it will be valid on one but not the other.

I send a change request, I get the new password and I log in to both with no problem … for another week or two.

I use chrome on the stable path.

  • I’m sorry but we literally cannot delete www.remarpro.com accounts. ??

What about looking at the account in the DB to see if there is some corrupted or stray data that is causing the issue?

I’m afraid that’s well above our (unpaid) pay grade.

How do I contact someone who is in that pay grade?

I’m here because i couldn’t find anywhere else.

I’m afraid you cannot contact them. I will ask someone to look at this for you but that’s as much as I can do.

There is nothing wrong with your account in this manner. That’s actually not possible with the way the authorization works.

The login system is a bit wonky, but it does work. I recommend clearing your cookies completely and then logging into the support forums first, before attempting to log into other areas.

BTW, all login issues on www.remarpro.com are cookie issues, more or less by definition. Your cookies are the only thing that authenticate you from request to request. Because of this, if you have any issues authenticating, then clearing the cookies and logging in again will fix the problem, every time. Cookies are not just the main thing, in this case, they’re the only thing.

I just, effectively did that, Otto. I have never logged into WordPress in Opera before, so no cookies, and the first place I tried to log in was /support/ then when I got an error I went to /plugins/ and got the same result, then I went to make. and it logged in perfectly. While still logged in at make. I went back to /support/ and got the error again.

I then sent a password change request and, with the new password and all cookies still in place, logged in like there was never a problem.

I have to go through this routine every couple weeks.

    Thread Starter Dane Morgan

    (@dane-morgan)

No. Clearing cookies does not correct this problem. I have deleted every cookie on the machine and still the only way for me to log in to /support/ is to get a new password.

I will make a screencast movie for you in a couple weeks when it happens again.

The password hash is only stored in one place. It’s not like we have multiple locations syncing or something here, when you log into make it’s the same as logging into plugins or support or anything else. Everything references the single solitary password entry. It actually *can’t* work in one place and not in another.

The “2 weeks” thing definitely points to there being a cookie issue of some kind. The cookie expiration, when you check the “remember me” box, is 2 weeks. Passwords don’t expire in the system at all.

Otto. I will make a movie next time it happens, but whether it “can’t” or not it *is* even with ALL cookies deleted. I specifically went in and deleted all cookies, closed the browser, re-opened it and logged into make. then failed to log in to /support/.

Then I attempted to log in from a browser I’ve never used to log in to the site from before with identical results.

I’m not trying to be difficult, but when you say it “can’t”, something is disconnected, because it *is*.

I don’t know if this matters or not, but I believe, now that I’ve been really paying attention to this, it is always make. that I can still log in.

Well, I don’t know what the problem could be, but the symptoms you’re describing are actually not possible, so there must be something else involved with what you’re doing to cause the issue. I certainly cannot reproduce it with my test accounts.

Are you getting the caps for your username correct? Usernames are case sensitive. Yours has a capital D and M involved, obviously.

Yes, I’m actually using lastpass to store and populate the fields and I have only one record in it for www.remarpro.com, but I’ve copy/pasted and I’ve straight typed things too all with the same results.

I’m not saying it’s not something I’m doing wrong. I’ve got no illusions to being the brightest guy around here or anything, I’m just describing my experience.

Next time it happens, I’ll make a screen cast and maybe you will see something I’m doing to cause the issue, though I don’t have this kind of issue anywhere other than here at www.remarpro.com.

Also, please note that as soon as I complete a password recovery, I am able to log in again whether I’ve done anything with cookies or anything else at all. I simply copy the password from the email, copy it to last pass and log in as though nothing had ever happened.
