• Hi,

Anyone here has ever encountered an issue with the WordPress Login page where the password field is showing as disabled in the code?

    <input type=”password” name=”pwd” id=”user_pass” aria-describedby=”login_error” class=”input password-input” value=”” size=”20″ disabled=””>

When I look at the actual login.php file it doesn’t show that it is disabled there.

    Hoping someone can help

  • Is there any other solutions people found? I deleted Jetpack, disabled all plugins and went to default theme, and was still having this issue. I should note that it does not happen for everyone – on my own computer it is working fine. On my client’s computer the password field is disabled no matter what browser she uses..
    Can anyone help?!

In that case, first please make sure that your browser is up to date: https://browsehappy.com/

If it is not, please try updating your browser or switching to a different browser.

If it is, please do these two things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies.

    2. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

Please let us know how each step goes for you, and which browser (and version of) you’re using if you’re still having trouble.

Thanks but we are using the most up to date browser.
The main browser my client is using is Chrome 79.0.3945.88, but she tried as well with other browsers on her computer. I should note that on my own computer I was able to log in fine.
As a temporary fix I downgraded wordpress, and she is now able to log on. But I would like to get to the bottom of this, so I can keep wordpress up to date.

Did you try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled?

I was having this same issue and was able to solve it by disabling the WordPress.com login option in Jetpack

#JetPack <– Remove this plugin & problem solved.

    Didn’t work for me =\

Just had this myself. Deactivated Jetpack. Fixed; password field available again.

    Jetpack 7.7.2
    WP 5.4.1

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.”

This worked for me. I used FTP to rename the Plugins folder to Plugins.OLD
I was able to log in, go to the Plugins page, and everything was disabled. I changed the Plugins folder back to normal, logged back in and updated all my plugins, including JetPack which was at 7.01 rather than the current 8.8. (And no WP-SpamShield).
I activated just JetPack, then Akismet, testing after each.

Unfortunately, I did not check to see which of all my plugins were Activated before the troubles (don’t we all have plugins that are installed but not being used?)
I reactivated all the ones I thought I was using.
    Everything still works fine.
