Password ‘change’ not working

Password reset that is accessed via “Forgot my password” link works fine.

I am referring to the password change in the account page (when the password tab is added to the account page).

The page only seems to refresh. There is no indication it worked and when you log out and back in, you see it has not worked. The old password is still in effect.

In order to save us all some time, I have performed the recommended conflict test of deactivating all the plugins.
