Passing information from a Template to a Shortcode

I want to pass information from a page template (a custom printview page) to a short code calendar (https://ldhl.tk/NkpZz8). I was hoping I could call the_content(“printview”) in the template and then use something like if $printview in a file that will eventually be included in loaded page. (sits in wp-content/themes-ai1ec/vortex/month.php)
