• Hi,

I lost some posts from my blog after upgrading to WP 2.3.3.

However, I have backups which I can use to restore those posts. But how do I restore only the specific posts whose contents are lost? Including the comments, categories, tags etc?

  • Good question. As far as I know there is no wordpress database synchronization tool that is capable of doing such things. I would suggest you get in touch with someone who is firm with mysql and who might be able to solve the issue with you on your database.

    Short answer: Copy and paste.

Long answer: It depends heavily on what format your backups are in. And even then, there’s no guarantees of success. You might be able to turn the backup into something that would restore only those posts, but it would probably be just as much work as copying and pasting the posts, unless you’re talking some quite large number of posts.

Sorry for the late reply. Have a release coming up ??

My backups are the WP-backup plugin exports (SQL dumps) so I have the entire content.

Copy & Paste would be my last option but I just wanted to know if there was a faster way..

Oh and it looks like only the post content is gone. The comments are all there!
