    Question
If after a live site has been copied to a staging site,

and if there are minor and important changes to the live, can there be a partial update to the staging site.

    Concrete Example

Had login difficulties so created a staging site, where first created a user, and then changed status of this user to “administrator” on the staging site.

After this, many changes were made to the live site, which did not have the same administrator account..

If wheb updating these changes to the staging site, what would happen to the administrative account previously created on the staging site.
Would it be deleted or remain?

Appreciate any input on this dilemma.
Many thanks, a non technical struggling elderly newbie”

    Howdy @briwordpressorg,

You can use the “Update” button to update your staging site with the contents of your live site:

    https://prnt.sc/1qm1112

    https://prnt.sc/1qm12q4

There, you can select what tables/files to migrate from Live to Staging. For instance, to migrate only the users from live to staging:

    https://prnt.sc/1qm1fc0

Or you can always delete the staging site and create a new one.

Thank you very much, fast clear and informative.

What I understand is you can do partial backups from live to staging.

!) The catch for me is where can I find out how to define what to backup? Is there an extensive list somewhere?
    2) Does it work the other way
Can a partial restore be done from the staging site to the live site?

Would be very comforting to know given my technical knowledge is hardly overflowing.

Many thanks Lucas for excellent technical support. Does the samE exist for THE “OPTIMISE product”, DIDNT REALLY GET CLEAR ANSWERS BY EMAIL, UNFORTUNATELY.

    Hello @briwordpressorg

you can specifically select what folders or database tables you want to clone before you start the cloning process. It works in both directions.

I am sorry but what Optimise product do you mean?
