    Hello,

My website uses your plugin, and unexpectedly today the entire site went offline and was replaced with the following message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /home/pixelkin/pixelkin.org/wp-content/plugins/kebo-twitter-feed/inc/widget.php on line 217

We can’t login to see what’s on line 217, to attempt to fix the problem, or to deactivate the plugin. I’m going to try to access the site via Dreamhost once I get the login credentials, but in the meantime, is there anything I can do? Please help.

    Courtney

    Hi Courtney,

I am really sorry you have suffered such a nasty problem using our plugin. I am sure I can help you get back up and running.

The error is saying that because of a misplaced fullstop, it has broken the PHP formatting and this caused a fatal PHP error.

From what I can see there is no fullstop in my code, or the code on www.remarpro.com, so my best guess is that some corruption occurred during the update process.

To fix this problem you need to overwrite the current ‘/kebo-twitter-feed/’ files, which are located in:

    /home/pixelkin/pixelkin.org/wp-content/plugins/kebo-twitter-feed/

If you download the plugin from the www.remarpro.com page, you could then overwrite the current files with a fresh copy. Alternatively, to fix the error immediately, you can simply delete the ‘kebo-twitter-feed’ folder. Using either FTP or a file manager your host provides.

Let me know if you have any more problems, or have questions. I will be here to answer.

Thank you so much for your fast reply!

I was able to remove the plugin from my FTP and now I’m going to try re-installing it from scratch. The site is back online! I really really appreciate your customer service.

    Hi Courtney,

I am really pleased that your site is up and running again. It is always a horrible experience when an entire site goes down due to a PHP error.

I have tracked through each version of the plugin recently and cannot find any trace of the rogue fullstop. I also test each release on a local environment and two sites using different hosting companies in an attempt to avoid problems like this.

I have never personally experienced a case of files being corrupted while a plugin is updated, but I will do everything I can to ensure I never cause fatal PHP errors on users websites and if it happens I am always here to help resolve the problem.
