Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in functions.php Beginner!!

I was trying to separate my comments and trackbacks and something went wrong which is now giving me the error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING in /home/foreigne/public_html/wp-content/themes/irrigation/functions.php on line 108

I was following along with this site: https://sivel.net/2008/10/wp-27-comment-separation/

I believe I did everything right until I got to this section about 2/3 down: Open your themes functions.php file and create a callback function for wp_list_comments. The following code should be inserted:

I’m a beginner and was trying to bite off more than I could handle. I somehow messed something up and now I get the error message. I don’t know php and could use a lot of help to get this fixed.
