Upgraded to 2.9.1 and when I went to login I got this error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/searchno/public_html/wp-includes/default-filters.php

    on line 229.
    How do I fix?

Try re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress

Have the same issue but I am also locked out of admin. I can’t get in to edit anything!

    Please help>

I updated my website with a new theme and now I can even login to revert what I did:

    This message is displayed:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in D:\vhosts\backingthefuture.co.uk\httpdocs\healthkick\wp-content\themes\c30e9eca49bb9e2c30a2c3ca889c3d4a\functions.php on line 1256

    What do I do???

Switch to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. You may need to try logging into your site to get this to kick in fully.

    What do I do???

use ftp or cpanel to either rename or delete the faulty theme folder – your site should then revert back to the default theme, and you should be able to access the dashboard again.

Thank you for all of your support. However I don’t really undertand what I need to do??

I’m sorry. We can’t really explain it any more clearly. You need to rename or delete the wp-content\themes\c30e9eca49bb9e2c30a2c3ca889c3d4a folder on your site.

You don’t need to login. You need to use FTP or cPanel or whatever file management application your host provides to access your hosting space.

Did this resolve the issue? I am having the same problem but am afraid of losing all my content and customizations by messing around in the FTP or reinstalling WP. Help very much appreciated.

I had a similar problem and was receiving a similar error message, but managed to resolve it in the File Manager of the cPanel. This was scary as I felt like I was tinkering with the nuclear launch codes, but it worked. Thanks.
