• Hi there,

I was just messing around with changing some code on a theme and have managed to break it. Now I can’t login to wordpress admin anymore.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home/ngaio/pregnancyacupuncturesydney.com.au/wp-content/themes/bizpress/functions.php on line 23

I read somewhere that I would need to use FTP or cPanel or whatever file management application my host provides to access the hosting space. Is this true?

Will I lose any of my content etc… ?

    HELP ??

yes – you can rename the /bizpress folder and this will bring up the default theme allowing you to fix yours
    or
upload a new functions.php file to the /bizpress folder

your data is safe in the database

Thanks Samuel – I really appreciate your quick response.

So once I rename the folder then whatever changes I’ve made to the theme will be lost but all content, images, plugins etc…. will be safe?

    Cheers
    Nik

you don’t lose any info renaming the folder – you just need to correct what you messed up – rename the folder back and activate it again

however looking at the error, I think you just need to reload a new functions.php in your theme folder

If I can’t login to WP admin then where else would I be able to find the functions.php file from? Would it be from WPZoom (the BizPress theme developers)?

Sorry for all the daft questions ??

Thanks again Samuel – you’ve been a lifesaver today!

Would it be from WPZoom (the BizPress theme developers)?

    yep

you can use an ftp client or your host’s file manager to upload and rename stuff

and don’t worry about questions – we all made mistakes starting out

OK i think that about sorts it out.

    Thanks again Samuel.
