• I just started working on a new site, using wordpress for the first time, and tried to add a line of code to the the functions.php file. I’ve been getting this error ever since

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘<‘ in /home8/substit3/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyten/functions.php on line 510

I attempted to re-upload the original functions.php file from my local drive. Didn’t work. I deleted the local and remote folders for the theme and then re-downloaded the entire Twenty Ten theme, put it in the same folder it had been (wp content) and uploaded via FTP to my remote site. Still getting the same error.

When I look at the php file in excel it doesn’t even go up to 510 lines…

I can tell there is not a closing ?> in the file, but that seems to be what the original file has, as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated — I just put up my first post today ??
