Updated to the new 1.8.29 version and I receive the following error. I had to disable the plugin to make the website work.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting :: (T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM) in /**/***/******/******.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/postie/postie-functions.php on line 3086

  • I have also had an error: with newest update
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM in /hermes/bosnaweb03a/b2899/*********/wp-content/plugins/postie/postie-functions.php on line 3086

Same error. Crashed website had to login to server to disable plugin.

Also if I have to upload a new plugin when it get’s fixed is there a file in postie that I can upload from the old one so that I don’t have to enter all the settings again?

Thank you for this great plugin. It has worked flawlessly for years.

    Same here:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting :: (T_PAAMAYIM_NEKUDOTAYIM) in /home/*****/********/wp-content/plugins/postie/postie-functions.php on line 3086

    what should I do?

    Thanks for the error reports.

This was actually introduced in 1.8.28 and is due to the PHP version being older than 5.5.

I’ve fixed the issue in 1.8.30.

FYI all your plugin settings are saved in the database so you don’t have to worry about losing them or having to re-enter them.

Thanks for fixing this so quickly Wayne. My site also crashed when I updated the plugin so I renamed the postie directory via ftp to get the site back up and running.

Is the best thing to do to just delete the plugin and then download 1.8.30 and reinstall?

Will the settings remain in the data base if I delete the plugin through the wordpress admin panel?

Thanks for making such a great plugin.

Deleting the plugin will not affect your settings. Just reinstall and activate 1.8.30 and you should be good to go.

You may want to talk to your hosting company about upgrading PHP to something more modern as well as this was the source of the issue.
