I was successful in changing the domain/url of my WordPress site (from a sub directory to the root directory). I changed the site from https://svlongmontlaw.com/wordpress TO https://svlongmontlaw.com/

But in doing so I can no longer login to my WordPress Admin/Dashboard.

    I get the error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘.’ in /home/content/63/8580763/html/wp-includes/user.php on line 990

I understand there is a problem with line 990 in the ‘user.php’ file. But, how do I find line 990 and determine what the problem is so I can fix it?

I have found a way to determine where line 990 is in the ‘user.php’ file but cannot determine where the syntax error is or how to fix it.

    Any suggestions?

What version of WordPress are you using?

It is WordPress 3.4.2 . . . I see that there is an update available. Might that make a difference?

A manual update might fix it, yes – but an automatic update might not.

I was able to do the manual update. Now, in attempting to login I get the message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home/content/63/8580763/html/wp-content/themes/evolve/library/functions/options.php on line 1

Any idea what I can try now? related to the ‘options.php’ file?
