    Hi!

i have suddenly got this error:
Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/chinoise/public_html/gurge/index.php on line 185

And I’ve researched this and cant find a solution (missing brackets? or using symbols) the last time i updated my site, there was no problem, so this error came up overnight :\ it would be great if anyone could help! here is the code for index.php

    [edited]
and the error where the line is (line 186) is always the last line here. Thanks so much for any help!! Really appreciated!! ??

  • It looks to me like your “loop” is incomplete. It doesn’t seem to “end”

thanks! i dunno how, but the bottom part of my index.php code just got cut off. sheesh! thank you so much!!

I had this just happen to me. What I did was I went back to the original theme I downloaded and redownloaded the original index.php. I also found that some plugins does not work with Word Press or I have not figured out how to do so yet. I found that I first needed to add some scripts where they need to be in the templates and tried to activate the plugin again. But in order to do that I had to go through FTP and delete the plug-in that caused the error in order to troubleshoot. At least that will help you to isolate what happened and figure it out.

Hope this helps some. It was very trying for me!

I know how. You edited it using the built in theme or file editor in WordPress, using Firefox, and switched tabs while doing so. It’s happened to me a number of times.

When you open the editor, it loads the text into that big text editing box. If you switch to another tab and switch back, the bottom part of the text gets removed. Don’t ask me why, it’s a Firefox issue.
